A CRT-D is a special device for heart failure patients who are also at high risk for sudden cardiac death. While functioning like a normal pacemaker to treat slow heart rhythms, a CRT-D device also delivers small electrical impulses to the left and right ventricles to help them contract at the same time. This will help your heart pump more efficiently. A CRT-D device can also treat dangerously fast heart rhythms (arrhythmias) that can lead to sudden cardiac arrest. If the device senses heartbeats that are dangerously fast, it delivers a shock to the heart. This shock (defibrillation) stops the abnormal rhythm. Without this life-saving therapy, the dangerously rapid rhythm could lead to death in just minutes.Factors such as rising incidences of cardiac disorders, advanced surgical procedures such as minimally invasive (MI) surgeries, patient awareness, and increasing healthcare spending are the primary growth drivers for the CRT-D market. Several clinical research studies indicate that when compared to CRT-P devices, the CRT-D devices can reduce re-admissions to the hospital for patients with heart failure, which is leading to their increased implementation in several cardiac procedures. Also, CRT-D devices lower the risk of sudden cardiac death (SCD) and improve the left ventricular function.
The Americas will be the largest revenue contributing region in the market by 2020 and is expected to occupy more than 55% of the total market share. The rising incidences of cardiac disorders and growing awareness about cardiac diseases are the primary growth drivers for this region.
